I can't tell if i have food stuck in my socket where I got my wisdom teeth o!

Question: I got my wisdom teeth taken out 4 days ago and I was just looking in the mirror at one of the sockets. The stitches from that socket has already come out (day 2) and now i just see something kind of white...im not sure if its food, and if it is food, what should i do?

I worried a lot about that when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, as well. Try not to bother it too much. Just stick the syringe that they gave you into the socket and flush it out a couple of times after you eat. That will be enough.

Leave the extraction site alone. Yes food gets into the hole, but unless it is bothering you, you should leave it alone. For instance if a piece is inside and outside and your tongue just can't help playing with it and you have had enough, then gently flush it out. Especially since you are now at the point where Dry Socket will not be a problem. But don't go picking around the site as that will only cause it to bleed and likely hurt.
The hole will heal from the inside out. That means that any particles of food that get into the socket will be pushed out before the socket has completely healed. No one has ever been stuck with a kernel of corn in their jawbone.
White tissuse is normally seen. It is just tissue that has died and will be shed and replaced with normal tissue. Unless the white thing you see is hard. Then it may be a piece of bone and you should see your dentist to get it out of your gums.
Also, resorbable stitches will only hold for 2 or so days, so this is very normal.

It's normal. It's the same type of thing as a scab on the skin. In the mouth, they look white. If you ever notice your cheek a day or so after you bite it, it looks kind of white. Just don't go poking around in the extraction site trying to get it out.

Just gently flush the area out to keep food from getting down in there and other than that, leave it alone. : )
