i am in exactly the same place as you at the moment, however i know what i am doing wrong. i can go on a diet and lose weight (about 5-10 pounds over about 2-3 weeks) but then i will start to eat badly again and put the weight straight back on, plus extra! Which sucks. I know this, and am trying to stop going back to eating crap!

Exercise is the key to losing weight, and if you are doing it then thats great, one thing with exercise is if you are good at that particular type of exercise then you wont burn as many callories. I am way over weight, but i am brilliant at swimming. I always have been. So when i exercise with swimming i find it harder to do because i am good at it so my heart rate doesnt go up as much, meaning that i dont burn as many callories.

Try doing something that you arent that good at. So if you are good at running try some other exercise.

I have found the british heart foundation diet really good (you can get it off of the internet for free) it tells you exactly what to eat that way there it is less likely that you will cheat. I think you should drastically change your diet - and the BHFD does that. (british heart foundation diet.) it is extreem, but it works.

i dunno whether that was helpful, but there you go.

And as for hating yourself because of your body, been there done that, and im back there.
I think sometimes we get so bogged down on what we look like it takes over our lives and we get so tightly wound. Sometimes you need to take a step back and think about what you like about your body, ignore all the bad. Do you have nice hair, nice eyes, nice boobs? that sort of thing.

Try just for one day every time you see your reflection, tell yourself that you look good. (its called self complimenting, and sometimes it works.)
Just pretend for one day that you dont care. Sometimes that helps a little.

oh and one more thing. You have to stick to exercising, (dont go all out, take it steady - u will only injure youself agian) and stick to the diet. If you come of the diet and exercising after just a couple of weeks then yes the weight will go back on. Try and stick to it.

Good luck and i hope you find the answer you are looking for.

First of all, Yes you can be happy without being thin ! Dedicate yourself to a healthy lifestyle and not a destructive lifestyle. As a certified personal trainer I can tell you that you need time between your workouts for your body to heal. The results do not come from the workouts but from the recovery process. Getting and staying in shape can be a fun and rewarding adventure but you have to think of the long term. Start by accepting yourself exactly the way you are now and work on staying commited to a healthy life style. I would be glad to help you with a program !

I dont know if you are a boy or girl but i figure since your in 16 your in high school so i would take complete advantage of high school sports. It will help u lose the weight, make u competitive and will give you the self discipline to keep it off believe me i did sports all throughout my life and pick 1 sport that is really tough and challenging and it will be tough as all hell but will make u a happier person and well worth the scarifice believe me i did wrestling hated every second of it but the sacrifice was totally worth everything!

One of the few sites I've found that seems to understand most aspects of health issues is old crow ink. You might want to see if one of their programs works for you. Check their Health Notes page. There is no fast program which works for everyone, all the time. Crash diets, pills, excessive exercise programs might work once but not for the long term. Try something that can adjust to weight changes and age.
Hope you do OK

Well I guess you need to learn to be happy without being thin...ANSWER THIS QUESTION WHEN YOU ARE THIN, WHAT DO YOU GAIN??

I used to be like you and I lost a lot of weight but then I was soo unhappy and clearly dieting is making you unhealthy....Then I was were you are now, I sprained my ancle exercising and I was so unhappy because of the diet and then I GAVE UP...I said I don't care anymore and from then on I started to slowly love my body and to love who I was. I am so happy right now and life is too short to be making yourself so sad. Love your body and live your life.

You are more likely to lose the weight again and then gain it back and the more you do so at the end of it all you will most likely end up weighing more weight than you have now...

wow, look out girl. The world doesn't stop if you put on some weight. I'm 6'1 and 210lbs, same age as you. It really isn't that bad. There is too much pressure on today's society about weight loss. It isn't important and shouldn't be a top priority. Spend some time with your friends and family, it is time much more worth spending than chasing the perfect weight. It's up to you though.

Anyways, here is the answer you are looking for....

You need a strict diet and cardio workout. A planned meal for each day, which gives gives your body exactly what it needs and does not receive less or more than it should. Working out without enough protein&carbs will burn calories that your body doesn't have. So when you eat more you gain more weight, to make up for the calories. It's a common misconception, but you need to burn the calories that you put on at breakfast or lunch. Which means consuming large, healthy breakfasts like eggs and whole grain bread. Also remember vitamins, or else you will get sick. Omega 3-6-9 would not do any damage either if you took that.

And 30 minutes of cardio everyday. I personally like the elliptical trainer, but a lot of people like jogging or treadmills. Lifting weights (lower weight-higher rep workouts) will burn more calories than cardio & is excellent right after a cardio workout. Remember to eat after every workout, and you should be good to go.

This is losing weight the proper way, no shortcuts, just work. You will keep the weight off and learn tons in the process. If it is something that you really want to do (not because of some outside influence like a magazine or judgmental friends) then you should have no problems with this. Yes, it does take time, and lots of it. Sometimes even years, but it pays off. Believe me.

Also, this is something to keep in mind: body fat is mostly due to genetics, and a strict workout will combat the body fat put on from a slow metabolism. You are not to blame for extra weight, it is in the gene pool, and we certainly cannot control that.
