Question: How much weight will I lose if I go the gym three days a week, and swimming one day a week?
I checked my weight yesterday, and I'm disgusted to say that I'm 15st/7lbs (217lbs!). I'm an 18 year old female and I'm only about 5'4" so yeah I'm drastically overweight, and I've decided I need to change my lifestyle for the better and for good. I want to drop down to at least 9st, maybe even 8st.

So he's what I'm hoping to do:

I'm gonna join the local gym and spend three nights a week at a gym doing cardio vascular exercises for around 1-2 hours. Then on Saturdays, I'm going to go swimming for an hour. I'm gonna consume around 950 calories a day and start drinking more water, I'll start carrying bottled water, and I'm gonna cut down on junk food/sweets/pop.

Hypothetically speaking, how much weight will I lose by around July 2011 if I stick to this exercise plan?

Average weight loss is only 9-15lbs a year, so this is a long term lifestyle issue, requiring both an appropriate diet and very regular vigorous exercise.

You could conceivably lose 30-40 lbs by July. A healthy weight loss is between 1lb-2lbs per week. It sounds like you have it all worked out as regards exercise but this alone will not shift the weight, you need to be on a healthy eating plan consuming no more than about 1000-1200 calories a day, plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, protein, low fat dairy. And drink plenty of water, at least 6-8 glasses per day.

You'll be anorexic in no time.



Also stop eating after 6:30/7 pm ... otherwise body cannot get rid of food before bed and it builds up.... Good luck.

hey! im 15, and i lost 20 lbs in just my last summer vacay:) this is a great plan! I lost it by swimming about 3-4 days a week, (fun swimming, not exercise swimming, lol) but before i swam, i would go to the gym. i started running 10 min, then resting 5 min, running 5, rest 5 and running 5, resting 5. and i would just work out for 20 more min on the eliptical or whatever. Of coruse, once you get used to it, you need to increase. now i can run 25 min, rest 5, and work 10 min on the eliptical and 10 on the bicycle. so once youre fitter, you could go to the gym 3-4 days a week and so on. since you are pretty overweight you will loose weight VERY fast, if you keep to your schedule! so i would say, you could loose about 35 lbs! i went from 170-142 since last june.( i didnt follow my plan for about 2 months in between tough) and i still plan to work out and eat healthy 6 days a week. you'll love exercise, and you can make it a habit for the rest of your life. dont get discouraged, and the only thing that can be a problem is food! so, before you wanna get a bag of chips, think about how guilty youd feel afterwards, and save yourself the pain. (i ALMOST let my mom get a gallon of pistachio mint ice cream last night!) also, never eat less than 800 cal. i ate 650 cal for 3 days, and almost passed out when i was working out.
