What are the dangers of exercising with anorexia?!
Question: What are the dangers of exercising with anorexia?
I know that when you don't eat, your heart rate and metabolism will slow down, and your heartbeat becomes irregular. She works a job as a carhop and I'm concerned that all that skating and physical exertion is going to harm her, or maybe cause her to black out?
Also, what are the dangers of consuming alcohol when anorexic? She's come home drunk a few times. I don't know much about that though. Could that be fatal?

The greatest danger of anorexia is death. If you know she is behaving like this you seriously need to talk to an adult about it. Don't worry about upsetting your sister - she has a serious mental illness and needs help now. If your parents aren't willing to help, then talk to a teacher at school about your concerns. Good luck!
"Adolescents with eating behaviors associated with anorexia (fasting, frequent exercise to lose weight, and self-induced vomiting) are at high risk for anxiety and depression in young adulthood. Alcohol and drug abuse are more common in patients with anorexia. Suicide has been estimated to account for as many as half the deaths in anorexia with studies showing up to a fifth of anorexic patients attempting suicide." http://www.umm.edu/patiented/articles/ho… :-)
