200 Chest Flies
Is this a good exercise to build muscle? Or at least see improvement? Im 14, male. Im not trying to lose weight, I dont need that, im just trying to build muscle. So is this alright? Or is their anything I should add or replace? I only have 3 pound weights and two 5 pound weights.
Answers:
Nope. High repititions (like 34) build really lean muscle, like you would see on a basketball player. To build bigger muscles you need to do things with higher weight and lower repitions. (10 or under on the reps)
Try putting on your back pack, with a bunch of HEAVY books, and doing push-ups, and squats, and even curls with it. You can look up some cool "chair push-ups" on youtube that'll give you a nice good workout.
Try askin your parents if they'll get you a 25 or 30 lb weight, and that'll open your abilities alot more.
~Good luck man!
if you want to build muscle mass, you're not supposed to do that many reps with a weight that light. you should increase the weight and lessen your reps.
i suggest you put enough weight for you to only be able to do 5 to 8 reps, then rest 2 minutes in between sets. doing this encourages your muscles to grow.
i suggest this workout:
barbell squat x5, 4 sets, 2 minute rest in between
dumbbell bench press x5, 4 sets, 90 seconds rest in between
barbell row x5, 4 sets, 90 seconds rest in between
chin up x as many as you can, 3 sets, 30 seconds rest in between
Crunches, x30, 3 sets, 1 minute rest in between
5 pounds dude? Cmon even you know the answer to that. Go to walmart and buy a20 or 25
