How do i know if my body is in starvation mode?!

Question: How do i know if my body is in starvation mode?
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how you know when your body is in starvation mode?

I am Female, 18 years old, 19 in 3 months, I am 5 foot 6 and a half and i weigh 54kg.
You should probably know that i suffer from Anoreixa/Bulima.
I was in hospital 2 years ago for it, i have little circles in my life where i get bad - suddenly get better then decide i can't do it, so i go down the same road of restricting my calorie intake again.
For about 3/4 weeks now i've been eating around 1000kcals on a good day, sometimes not even 800kcals, Depending what im doing...
My diet consists of a bowl of special K - with the skimmed milk ( red lid ) But i never eat all of them, and its only a small bowl.
By 9.00 in the morning my stomach is rubbling so i drink Loads and loads of Pepsi max to fill myself up, i know its only got 1kcal per 250ml so....
Until around Lunch time when i either have a Tuna sandwich, however i dont have butter and i only eat brown bread, i do have some sauce though and i only have the tuna in spring water.
Then after each meal i have a green tea, and i do some aerobic exercises, and then another load of pepsi max.
I dont always have dinner, its the meal im most scared of, i dont eat past 6.00 at night. If i do have dinner i have fish or i only eat part of a dinner my mum cooks.
I also Smoke, and i do Dance 3-4-5 times a week, depending if im doing anything else.
The thing is my weight seems to never change it always fluxuates around 53 - 55kg.
Could someone explain to whats happening to my body?

Thank you.

If your body is used to the diet you are currently on then it won't budge mainly because it has grown accustomed to this. To put on weight or loose weight, you need to eat outside the norm of what your body is used to. This is pretty normal and I would say you currently eat healthier.
I suffer from anorexia also so obviously I'm not going to say you are underweight since 50.8kg is what i aim to become. Smoking also is known to help people loose weight so if you quit then you'll see a change in it (you'll gain weight)
:) I hope this helped

Okay, so here;s the deal (pardon me for using ; instead of ', my fingers just go there): it's a simple rule, if your stomach rumbles, then your body is in starvation mode.

The body needs constant nutrition, which it uses to do a lot of stuff, like making your heart beat, breathing, contracting your muscles when you sit, everything. It needs energy all the time. When it can't get energy, it will turn itself into energy.

Which means that it will break down your muscles and other cells to produce energy. This could leave you feeling weak and faint. It won't break down fat though, fat is only used when you do something that makes your body warm all over, like running or lifting weights.

which leads us to my important point, breakfast and dinner. It had something to do with sleep. When you sleep, you get no nutrition, but your body keeps on working the same as when you're awake, sometimes even more. So if you skipped dinner, well, your body have to break itself down. The same goes for breakfast.

WHen this breaking down happens, it means you're in starvation mode. Your metabolism will slow down to crawling pace. So i hope that answers your main question.

ABout all this calorie intake thing... It doesn;t matter how many calories you take in, it's what form of calories you take in. To explain all that will require a book, but you can google it. But the basics is dietary fat is okay (no joke) but stay away from refined starches. everything else is pretty much okay.

Hope this helps!
