Is it healthy to only eat fruits and drink water?!

Question: Is it healthy to only eat fruits and drink water?
I've been struggling with my weight and have been dieting lately, keeping track of what I eat and avoiding fast and processed foods, and was wondering if it's okay to only eat fruit.

Answers:

You would have to choose your fruits wisely as you not only need carbs, vitamins, minerals and water but also proteins and fats.
Make sure your apples are organic so you can eat the skin and get the fiber and all the nutrients that are concentrated in the skin.

Fruits have a lot of carbs so they’re not low in calories. A glass of OJ is more than 100 calories so you’d be better off eating an orange that would have half the calories of a glass, with more fiber and be fresh. For some reasons, I never see anybody peeling and eating an orange anymore. They seem to be drinking processed OJ or buy fresh oranges to press them at home and make homemade, fresh tasting orange juice (you need 2 or 3 oranges to make a glass), hopefully keeping the pulp to use in cooking and baking (I like to eat orange pulp as a snack).

Nuts (which are fruits) are rich in proteins and fats. Also olives and avocados are high in good fats.
For your organs including your brain, spinal cord, nerves and skin, you would need about 20% of your diet coming from good dietary fats like the good oils, nuts, seeds, avocado, olives...

You should include veggies if your concern is about eating healthier. Veggies have fewer calories, more nutrients, fill you up better and add variety.
Also, unless you’re vegan, they’re nothing better than egg whites to get your proteins (only 17 calories).
And milk gives you the calcium that you need and also proteins and carbs. It is said that the combination of milk and potatoes offers a complete diet (potatoes are packed with vitamins and minerals...eat the skin) but you should still have a varied diet so you’re not dependant on any food. Irish people depended on milk and potato until their potato got a disease (potato blight) so they starved, 1 million died and another million emigrated. They were not stupid to depend on milk and potato as they were oppressed people, all their good lands being used to raise cattle to feed the British.

For weight loss, do not have a “diet” diet, where you’re told what to eat, just eat healthy, have a simple healthy diet, so you can satisfy your cravings and answer your body’s need for some missing nutrients. If I’m building muscle mass, I’ll need a lot of carbs to do the weight training (because it’s anaerobic and fat burning shuts down) and then I’ll get huge cravings for eggs, nuts or a good juicy filet mignon (need for proteins for the “repairing stronger” part) otherwise, I would only eat eggs or meat like once a week.

Eating healthy is about avoiding the unhealthy food as much as possible. Once you stay away from fast food (any restaurant food, really), packaged and boxed food (except for bread, pasta and rice, if you don’t make your own bread/pasta), canned food, prepared and processed food, then you’re left with the fruits/veggies, whole wheat food (the brown kind of bread, pasta), brown rice, legumes (beans, peas, lentils...), lean meat, low fat dairies, eggs and the good kind of oil (olive, avocado, nuts, fish). You can have any of the bad stuff occasionally so they don’t become forbidden obsessions. Have some French fries, or one slice of pizza (with your favorite veggies) or a cookie, once in a while. Just don’t do it every day and watch out for portion sizes.
Also the cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer (using water), a rotisserie (using heat and herbs), a slow cooker (using homemade broth and herbs), a pressure cooker, a grill…

Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.

If you’ve been struggling with your weight, your best course of action should be to rev up your metabolism by adding muscle mass.
Muscle mass is the weight loss miracle. Not only does it make you look better, thinner and toner but also makes you stronger so your aerobics get easier and more efficient and you burn more calories while exercising. Also carrying grocery bags/going up the stairs or anything else is so much easier when you have some muscles in your arms/legs.

Once you get more muscle mass, your metabolism goes up on a 24/7 basis. Each pound of added muscle mass needs 35/50 calories a day to maintain (not even counting the calories for the exercise). It’s 12 to 18 thousand calories a year…it’s 3 to 5 pounds of body fat a year that you would either lose or at least not gain (if you eat it). And that is just for one pound of extra added muscle mass.

Get moving and don’t worry so much about your calorie intake if you have a lot of calorie expenditure.

Absolutely not!
You need carbohydrates, protein, and fats! It's part of life. Don't only eat fruit. You'll become malnourished.
If you want to go on a diet, ask your doctor.

no its not ok. fruit is basically water. you need protein and everything that is in food. remember its not how much you eat, its what you eat.
fibre cereals, crackers, yogurt, protein bars. all great things to eat as well.
exercise helps too. its not just about what you put into your stomach.

Fruit is great but you should include some whole grains, nuts etc. You get more protein and other vitamins from these, go for it you are doing the right thing.
