How much and how soon after working out should i consume protein?!


Question: How much and how soon after working out should i consume protein!?
im 17, a senior in high school!. i dont plan to be a football player or a body builder!. i work out often and im 5'11'' 155lbs!. how much protein should i have after a workout or around it!? in grams i guess!.!. also, how soon after or before should i consume!? i dont really have a set goal, but if one was required if i were to get a reasonable answer i guess my goal would be simply to build up a little, not so much in bulk though, im in track and i run 400m not 40m!.

Overall if you do heavy cardio or heavy weight lifting you should consume !.8 x (your total weight)!. If you don't do that hard of a workout it is !.6x(your total weight) in grams of protein per day!. Make sure you diversify your intake of foods(proteins) and not focus on just the protein powder!.
It is wise to consume the protein shakes directly after your workout, up to 30 minutes after!. Every protein powder mix has some kind of directions on the back of it, follow that and you should be fine!. Make sure you don't over do on your protein because instead of it going to rebuild your muscles it will turn into excess energy(fat)!. Good luck in Track!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
