Can i combine 2 weights to make my weight lifting heavier ?!


Question: Can i combine 2 weights to make my weight lifting heavier !?
i started strength training and i use to always use 8 pound weights because i was really weak then i moved it up to ten pounds now im use to those , do you think if i tie my 8 pound weights with my 10 pound weights will i get the same effect from the lifting those weights as if i just had actual 18 pound weights !? i can push myself to handling 8 more pounds!.

Go ahead!. Another good effect of that would most likely be they would be harder to hold onto which would lead to your forearms getting worked harder trying to hold onto the dumbbells!. I suggest buying some loadable dumbells though, that will make everything much easier for you!. Or you could sign up for a local gym!. good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

honestly i wouldn't jump to 18 lbs so fast like that!. you're going to kill yourself!. you should only be adding 2-5 lbs every few weeks to whatever you're already lifting!. jumping from 10 lbs to 18 lbs is a bad idea and you will most likely injure yourself which will prevent you from working out for awhile!. maybe you should try resistance training and use your own body weight!. Yes you can lift 8 more pounds!.!.!.but has to be gradual!. If you are lifting 10 pounds right now, 18 pounds might be a little difficult!. Im not sure what you mean by "tie my 8 pound weights" but 8 + 10 pounds would be 18 pounds regardless of if its two separate weights or 1 single weight!. Keep it up and you will get stronger and stronger if you just push yourself!. (If your young!.!.!.under 16yrs old I would not go so heavy just yet until you have stopped growing!. Stick with lifting your own body weight ex!. pushups, situps, pullups, military squats, etc!.)
