Question: How safe is a gastric bypass!?
Been hearing lots of bad things about gastric bypass surgery!. Anyone tell me how one form of bariatric surgery differs from the rest!? (lap band vs!. gastric bypass etc!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com

The Gastric Bypass surgery that has become popular as of late is the first technique used by surgeons to bypass much of the stomach in essence shrinking the capacity of the stomach!. This procedure is not reversible and has a few complication risks!. The lap band is a newer form of gastric surgery which is fully adjustable and removable making it much safer and easier to adjust to!.

the gastric bypass is more aggressive surgery, is done for laparoscopy or open surgery!. Isn't reversible (medically)!. Lap band is generally laparoscopy and is medically reversible!.The surgery is risk but generally in my experience more for the bad habits of the people and with the relation we had with the food!. The surgery isn't easy and complications are possible!. But consider that in general the people morbid obese had serious health problems!. I had gastric bypass 4 months ago, I didn't have any problems personally, I only had pain the day of my surgery (afterwards) no recovery problems, lost 105 lbs!. It's not been easy!. I have cried!. I have hurt!. BUT I can play with my son!. I can be around people without feeling their stares and hearing their snickers!. I look like everyone else!. I've lowered my risk of heart attack and stroke!. I will live to see my grandchildren!. I have learned to eat correctly!. I see a nutritionist once a month!. This is not required of me but something I do to make sure that I am doing all I can to be healthy and STAY healthy!. I AM NOT LAZY Just remember this is a life long change, but this surgery makes it so much easier to loose weight!. I wish I had been able to do it at 16 instead of 30!.

You would be better off discussing this with a doctor!. My son is morbidly obese and is also considering this surgery!. From what I have heard from him, there is plenty of risk involved , and, without the proper discipline on the part of the patient, it can be ineffective!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Make sure you do your research!. Lap band surgery is safer than gastric and it almost killed my husband!. He had to have it reversed!. Diet and exercise are the only answer!.
