Is it bad to only take one day off a month for cardio?!
Question:
Is it bad to only take one day off a month for cardio?
I do cardio (along with strength training twice a week) 7 days a week usually 45 minutes a day. I know you are supposed to take a break- but I don't feel like I need a break. I'm 23, 5'7, 123lbs. I'm not trying to loose weight, just maintain. But am I harming my body? I average one day off a month, if that- from cardio.
Answers:
Nope! You can do cardio as much as you want. Believe me, if your body wants a break, it will let you know. I usually run twice a day during the week, once on Saturday, and take Sunday off.
If your goal is to build muscle through lifting, your body does need time to heal. Cardio doesn't really tear your muscles like weight lifting does rather it is used more to burn calories and strengthen your heart. If your body is giving you signs that you need a break, don't ignore it, take a few days off. Swimming, for example, is no impact, so you could do that all day every day. Running too much may give you shin splints and things like that but you aren't hurting anything from getting your heart rate up every day and burning calories.
