I took Hydroxycut for a while. It increases your heart rate and I found it a little disturbing. I asked the senior doctor on my ship (Navy) about it and he said it was the equivalent of driving in 4th gear when you've got a 5th gear available, and basically implied that it might do its job now but perhaps affect my longevity. I was carrying some extra pounds and was sent to Afghanistan. While there I made weight loss my hobby. I started running approx. every other day, and I changed my diet-- I ate a lot of fruit, a lot of salad, no cheese, no bread, no ranch dressing, skim milk. I avoided all fried foods. I also virtually eliminated red meat from my diet, choosing chicken and fish. At lunch I never ate an entree, only salad, but made sure there was a lot of healthy stuff with it-- navy beans, mushrooms, olives, even tuna salad.. I always ate a lot of what I was eating, but never a lot of one thing except probably the lettuce, spinach, leafy veggies... I never left the table hungry, I just pounded stuff that was going to scour me out. In six months I lost 25 pounds. This was going from 184 to 159. If I had really been big I think I'd have lost a lot more.
