What should I have for breakfast before working out?!
Question:
What should I have for breakfast before working out?
I've started working out since last week. I go to the park at around 10:30-11am and I usually eat a piece of toast and a scrambled egg with juice or milk about an hour before I work out. Is that time ok or should I eat earlier or later than that? And what is a good healthy breakfast that will keep me full and energized and is easy and quick to make?
Thanx! =)
Answers:
Your best bet is to take some easily digested carbs about an hour before working out. A slice or two of a whole grain bread (not white bread) and some fruit juice is a good start. Anything with fat or protein will take longer to digest, and since digestion requires blood, eating foods with fats or proteins too close to a workout may detract from your training. It takes around 2-3 hours to digest fats and proteins- If you want a little protein before a workout, lose the eggs and try a whey protein supplement, which metabolizes in about an hour.
