Please help me change my diet to be healthy?!


Question: Please help me change my diet to be healthy!?
i was eating fast food for 3-4 meals a day 7 days a week!. i am 6'2 230 pounds!. my best friend ate the same way he is the same age 28, he passed away last month from a massive heart attack, he had 92% blocked arteries, we both smoked and drank alot too!.

since his death, i have quit smoking, i do not eat fast food and i have changed my diet to these items!.

breakfast!. 2 slices of spelt toast with lite butter!.

lunch: one sandwich that consists of 2 slices spelt bread, 4 slices of ham, mayo, mustard and a kraft single cheese!. a quarter pound of grapes, 6 strawberries, and a dozen cherries!.

dinner: grilled chicken breast, salad, and a few baby pickles!.

are these meals a healthy alternative!? and if i eat this way will i maintain my weight or will i lose weight!? thanks for your input!.

for excersise, i dirtbike 2-3 times a week!. i walk as much as possible!. i do a little hiking after work!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow you're doing a great job! especially after just a month, i know its hard to change your life style just cold turkey so kudos to you,but if you're worried about cholesterol,and high blood pressure try adding whole grains/whole wheat to your diet,skip salty food like cheese and any of the cured or processed meats,stick with fresh fruits and vegetables,make sure you get a good intake of water to speed up your metabolism and throw in some cardio to get your heart going and to shed some pounds!. swimming is good cardio!. you could try 15 lengths in a half hour nutrigenie has good software but it is alittle expensive!.then you can tell what vitamins in each food!. no noodles, no rice and no potatoes!. take a good megavitamin!. no bakery!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you are off to a good start!.!.watch your intake, no white bread!.cut the mayo!.!.eat lots of fiber, fruits, veggie, raw as well as cooked, nuts!.!.look at calorie king!.com!.!.!.write down everything you eat,, then look at the calorie!.!.you have to cut 3500 calories to lose a pound!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Since you are active in what you do is great and with your diet avoid the Mayo ,that it's too much fat!. and drink water instead , the baby pickles should not be sweet and if it is change it for a natural !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your diet has way too much sodium, and there other problems with it as well!. You might maintain, but won't lose, on this diet, and your heart could still suffer!.

Instead of "lite" butter on your toast, use a cholesterol-busting spread: Smart Balance, Benecol, Take Control, etc!.

Ditch the ham, and especially the mayo! Instead of ham, try something with less fat and less sodium!. (Veggie salami--made of soy--takes some getting used to!. But veggie hot dogs--also made of soy--taste just like the real thing)!. Instead of mayo, use mashed avacado or (even better) hummus!. (You can buy it in the deli section at your supermarket!. Has same consistency and similar taste to mayo!.)

Dinner looks healthy except for the pickles!. (Too much sodium)!. If you crave the sodium that pickles provide, try olives instead!. Or pickled hot peppers!. Both of those have some health benefits to go along with their sodium!. The pickles do not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
