Question: Is it healthy to run in the morning, on an empty stomach!?
I read that if one runs in the morning, without consuming any calories(on an empty stomach), then he/she will lose muscle before fat!.

Yes it is healthy to do cardio in the morning on an empty stomach (water only) and is one of the more effective ways to lose body fat!.

When you wake up, you have depleted your body of its glycogen stores!. These glycogen stores are what you would normally call upon for fuel during a morning cardio session!. As your body can't do this, it will then begin to metabolize fat for energy for you morning session!.

The time where your body will turn to muscle cannabilization is if you do not provide proteins to the muscles!. Your typical morning cardio session that is geared toward fat loss is going to be driven around High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) which will only last ~30 minutes or less, or the intensity level is at a lower level such that your muscles are not getting the same type of workout that they would typically get during a resistance workout!.

Once you finish you morning workout, you are going to wait 45-60 minutes and then eat a breakfast that will be high in proteins and complex/ natural carbs!. This is the primary driver for muscle breakdown as you have been starving you body for 12-18 hours it it needs proper nutrients, especially after a cardio workout!.

As a side note!.!.!.

-- If you eat before your cardio workout, you are only going to burn a portion of the calories you just ate, not the fat that you are trying to get rid of!.
-- This will help regulate cravings throughout the day
-- This will start the day with a metabolic boost!.

Hackiesa, this is a back fence rumor!. You can't lose muscle tissue by exercising!. You can burn fat (calories) by running!. So what are you going to do, listen to false prophets or do your thing!. Run baby! Run!

Any exercise will make you hungry so to run with no food will only use up what is there,fat,but you will probably eat more making any benefit useless!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
