Answers:
Does your daughter have anorexia!? Most likely not!. However, this is your daughter and not something you should just simply trust random people on yahoo to answer!.

I do have input, though!. How tall is she and how much does she weigh!? If that is at a good proportion then she is fine!. Also, people with anorexia nervosa are obsessed with body image!. They simply think the skinnier the better and most people know that the way to get skinny is not with chocolate!.

My opinion with the little facts you gave us: she is a normal 13 year old who is 'dieting' because she thinks she does not fit the way she thinks girls her age 'should' look!. There is a statistics out there, and I'm not sure where to find the most accurate one, but it goes like this "X% of school-aged girls are dieting" and this percentage is more than 60%!.

This does not mean actual dieting, it simply means that when their friends ask them what they had for lunch, they say "Oh, I'm on a diet so I only had an apple!."

If I am correct and she is following a dieting trend with her friends at school, then there are a few things you can do!. Have any man in the family tell her she is beautiful (because I am sure she is) and this will help her self-esteem and also talk to her about dieting and possibly change your cooking style to be more healthy - this way she will not feel guilting eating food you cook because she will know that you put the extra effort into making the meal healthier!. Also, feel free to work out with her or have her join a sport!. Coaches are HUGE influences in young women's lives!. Coaches and teammates!.

Eating oatmeal and chocolate do not seem necessarily self-destructive!. It sounds like she is trying to be healthy and then giving herself a little reward for it later in the day (and because she probably craves sugar)!. Give her some more healthy options!.

I hope this helps and is not too long!. Be careful!. See a doctor though if you are still concerned!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

13 is a tough age, there's a movie called 13 I think!. I'm not in a position to give advice about possible outcomes, I know I had my fair share of tribulations as a mother, all I can say IMHO is to keep the lines of communication open and never give any reason why she should feel she can't come to you!. You are her beacon so keep a good watch, a good councelor may come in handy, but she has to want to go!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

im 14 and use to have anorexia until my mom found out , i think you should becareful i started out by that until i stop eating try and get her to eat cereal and a apple, for lunch make her a sandwich, and for dinner make her a salad wiht chicken/veggies
thats what my mom did and little by little it worked and im thankful
good luck : ]Www@Answer-Health@Com

shes probably depressed, or just maybe not hungry!. But if that's all shes eating the whole day, then she most likely has an eating disorder!. If i were you, i would make her eat more and try to get her on track!. Ask a doctor, those nutrition people whose name i keep forgetting, and a phyciatrist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to make her more than that, it's totally unhealthy they way she's eating! You're the Mom and can control what she eats! Make her eat in front of you and don't allow her to do anything unless she eats properly!. She donesn't sound like she's anorexic, just making really bad food choices!Www@Answer-Health@Com

No she does not!!!! Anerexia is when you perpously throw up your food and starve yourself!. She may be slightly anemic which means that shes so used to eating practicly nothing, she does it without thinking and when she tries to eat more she cant because her stomache shrunk!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If this is a sudden change than absolutely, if it's the diet she's been on all along, it may not be anorexia, but she needs to go to a nutritionist and figure out a better diet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, she has an eating disorder!. Take her to the psychiatrist!. Good luck!.
PS You might want to consider reading "Reviving Ophelia" together!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

that would be considered anorexia!. I would bring it up with her therapist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Shes probably just depressed!. Just watch out that she doesnt do self harm!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It might be likely from her eating habits !. There are several behaviors and clues to look out for if you suspect that you teenaged daughter has an eating disorder!.

- She skips meals, or eats very sparingly when she does eat!.
- She will not eat in front of other people!.
- She eats food in ritualistic ways, such as by cutting foods into very small pieces and chewing excessively!.
- She is constantly making excuses so that she will not have to eat, such as telling you that she has an upset stomach or that she just ate with a friend!.
- Eating habits change drastically!. For example, she may eliminate any sweets from her diet or stop eating fats and meats!.
- She begins to obsess over food labels and calorie content in foods!.
- Becomes very depressed and upset with herself after eating a large or normal-sized meal!.
