Based on a height/weight ratio, its a arbitrary rating of your "fatness"!. Mine is 26!.4, indicating that I am over weight!. I'm 6', 195 lbs!. I play full court basketball 3 hours a week, jog and lift weights 2 hours a week!. I have 12% body fat, which classifies me as an athlete!. So according to BMI, I'm a fat athlete!. I'm not saying it's totally irrelevant, just that there are other, equally important factors to consider!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
your body mass index is a ratio of your body wieght to the size of your body frame!.!. a simple way to tell is to wrap your index and thumb around your wrist bone!. if your finger and thumb over lap you have a small frame if they just touch you have a medium one and if they dont you have a large frame!. and your BMI is a relation to your frame and the amount of fat on you body!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

BMI is basically your weight in kilograms divided by your height in metres squared!. It is not a direct measure of your body fat percentage!. That means if you have a BMI of 22, that doesn't mean your body fat percentage is 22%!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
