Orange juice?!

Question:

Orange juice?

Hi,
I can buy a 1.89 lt Tropicana orange juice which reads "100% pure orange juice" and "no pulp" for 4.19$. But when I go to buy fresh oranges, I get like 2 oranges in nearly 1.4$. I would think that you really need to squeeze out many oranges to fill up a 1.89 lt. Could someone pl explain then this price difference?
Thanks

Answers:

Yep, it takes a lot of oranges to squeeze out that much juice. You see...when Tropicana and other producers of orange juice say 100% orange juice, they are not just talking about the juice from the inside of the orange. They put the oranges through the wringer (no pun intended) and when you drink their juices it is the juice from the inside of the orange as well as almost every bit of moisture that is in the rind. I squeeze orange juice often for breakfast, but it takes about 7-8 medium oranges to get enough juice for 2 medium glasses. Oranges are expensive right now in Texas. Don't know about elsewhere!
