What bread is best for dieters?!
Question:
What bread is best for dieters?
I'm trying to lose weight.
I have a fairly rigorous exercise routine and I am not a glutton.
I think I'm eating the wrong foods, particularly processed foods and high carb foods.
So I'm trying to cut them out.
Do I need to give up bread altogether or is there a healthy low carb alternative?
Answers:
1) What bread is best for dieters? My favorite is Oroweat Double Fiber whole grain bread with has 6 grams of fiber per slice.
It turns out that fiber is important in your diet because it helps increase the sense of satiety. However, you will still need some carbohydrates in your diet. My favorite approach is the DASH (dietary alternatives to stop hypertension) diet, which permits an appropriate level of carbohydrates in your diet.
As a lifelong dieter, I have a theory that we have been trained to think that carbs are bad, so what many of us end up doing is avoiding them as much as possible and then wondering why we are so hungry, and why we are heading toward processed foods and high carb foods. Rather than getting rid of processed foods, think of replacing them with 8-10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Rather than avoiding carbs, to schedule regular but small servings of carbohydrates. When I do this, which I can manage most of the time, it works.
