BMI Index???!

Question: I think the BMI index is completely messed up. Because it says that someone my height 5'4" could be 140 pounds and could still be considered to be at a normal weight. That is too heavy. What do you all think of the BMI index?

your right its 100% inaccurate....the only real way to find out your body fat % is to have somebody take measurements of you with a body caliper......go to www.linearsoftware.com and click on calculators and it should guide you I have 8% body fat and the bmi index said i have 23 so theres how well that works

BMI is rubbish, but you are wrong, too.

Somebody 5'4" tall, with 140 pounds mainly of muscle, would make a very good skiier, bodybuilder, boxer, or Judo player.

If they have a lot of fat on their body, then this would be unhealthy, but BMI can't tell the difference.

Weight, Shape, Size, and Bodyfat are all separate issues. But most of the time, these words are used interchangeably, so it's very difficult for most people to properly understand their body's relationship with activity and food. The slimming industry exploits and encourages this confusion in order to sell useless 'diet' products and clubs.

BMI Index is technical. That's all true, and I follow it. I really think that everyone should go by it.
