3500 calories is equivalent to 1 lb, so to lose 1 lb per week you need to cut 500 calories per day.

Don't dip below 1200 calories- but if you burn that many calories then eat about 1800 calories a day and you will lose a pound a week.

To lose 1 lb per week you need to either eat 500 fewer calories per day, or burn 500 more calories per day through exercise, or some combination of the two. So you need to figure out how many calories you are eating to maintain your current weight (you can use the calculator in my sources if you aren't sure) and subtract 500 from that.

Try to keep it around the 1000 range.
