Most common cause of repeated cracking is cavitation, here's what wiki had to say:

When a manipulation is performed, the applied force separates the articular surfaces of a fully encapsulated synovial joint, which in turn creates a reduction in pressure within the joint cavity. In this low pressure environment, some of the gases that are dissolved in the synovial fluid (which are naturally found in all bodily fluids) leave the solution creating a bubble or cavity, which rapidly collapses upon itself, resulting in a "clicking" sound. This process is known as cavitation. The contents of the resultant gas bubble are thought to be mainly carbon dioxide.

It's not harmful in anyway as far as im aware, i lift regularly and my shoulders do this all the time too

pineapple pineapple pineapple!!!!! mmm its yummy and it's supposed to be good for your joints!!! i eat pineapple more than i breathe and i've never ever ever had problems with my joints!!! i'm not just sayin that's a cooincidence... i read that it's good for your joints on the label

Get a trainer!

I think a lot of the problems I am going through with my knees right now are from improper training. One of the things the doctor will do when my leg heals enough is start physical therapy to strengthen my knees. I know my ankles need strengthening too, but I'll wait for that one.

A trainer will guide you as your body cracks and buckles. I woud never have believed that a simply fall while dance would put me out of the game for so long.
