How to loose weight as soon as possible?!

Question: I've gained over 40lbs. in the passed 3/4 years and it get to be really disappointing. I've tried dieting and this time it just doesnt seem to be working that well. Last year I dieted and actually starting loosing, but I gave up...this year I havent gave up but I'm just not loosing weight. I would like to loose about 50-60lbs. by the end of summer. What should I do? And please dont say eat healthy and work out. Give me some examples. Stuff that helps the process. Stories of experience, anything!!

Also, I think I already know the answer to this...but does any of them diet pills actually work? Has anyone actually lost a decent amount of weight taking them? If so, what kind was it?

I have lost 20lbs so far by eating between 1200-1400 calories a day. The first month I lose 15lbs..but I think I went overboard with exercising. I was exercising after every meal and would walk and jog 4-6 miles a day..every day. It worked but then I plateaued and I am just restarting at the beginning of the week. I think I have lost another 2lbs but I need to check tomorrow morning. :) What I do is I just keep my calories within my limit, if I go a little over I don't freak out. I try to get in 1-2 miles of walking or jogging a day;along with 40-60 minutes of intense cardio with workout videos. I burn about 600-800 calories a day. You can eat the foods you want just don't go overboard. Here's an example of what I eat:

Breakfast:
3 tbspn Cream of Wheat with splenda and butter to flavor; 1 slice of toast lightly buttered - around 230 calories
Apple- 70 calories

Lunch- Sandwich with lean meat, lettuce and tomato to taste with mustard and light mayo - 240 calories

Snack - 1 boiled egg and 1 apple - 140 calories

Dinner - 1 chicken thigh and leg roasted with broccoli carrots and mashed potatoes - 450 calories

Dessert or snack- 100 calorie jello pudding snack or 1 boiled egg and 1 apple.

That equals 1160 or 1200 calories exactly give or take a couple calories if I didn't calculate exactly. I hope everyone works out for you:) Remember to drink A LOT of water!!! Half your weight in ounces.

I think your looking for an easy way out when its going to be clear there isn't one. The facts are the fact, losing weight means burning more calories than you eat. For example, control your portions and start a light/moderate exercise three times a week. A good beginners way would be to grab a friend/dog and walk around your neighborhood for 30 minutes 3 times a week.

Dieting alone WILL NOT WORK. You need some way to get your body working, develop some muscle to speed up your mtabolism, and eat a little healthier or eat substantially less.

Take me for example, I was a big guy. So I took the advice of an in-shape friend of mine and started walking around my block daily for 20 mins. Walking turned into jogging, and jogging has kept me healthy ever since then.

As for the diet pills, dont even bother. Its more of a commitment to take the pills than just losing the weight the healthy traditional way will. Now vitamins on the other hand, those will help you alot.

Forget diet pills, powders, and shakes...most are not healthy for you despite what they say and let's face it, they may not be on the shelf forever. When they're not there, then what?

Many shakes, powders, and diet bars are FULL of sugars and very small in portion. Not satisfying at all which will encourage you to overeat. Sugar is an important factor because excess turns to...you guessed it-FAT. Not to mention increased chance of diabetes. Shakes and powders are a liquid sort of diet, meal replacers which again, are not satisfying.

Going on a diet to lose (not loose) 50-60 pounds is great but remember that once you reach your goal you're not "cured". You can't go back to doing what you did before or you'll gain all the weight back. Forget the end of summer, are you looking to be healthy for life?

You do need to eat healthy and exercise, the best thing would be to see a dietician. They can set up a plan that will work for you, your lifestyle, and food preferences (not to mention habits). They can also recommend exercising for your body type and fitness level.

t lynn, I'd really love to help you, but the way your post is worded, you really don't sound like you have the discipline to see it through...

Losing weight is a very straight forward process, but it is like a torture of sorts, because you have to do stuff you don't want to do.

You just need to eat less than what your body naturally uses throughout the day. You could lose a lot of weight by the time summer comes to an end, but you have to stay on track and not give up.

The only 2 things you can do to lose weight are: eating healthy and exercising, but it's how you do it that will determine your success. Mainly, cut out any sugary foods: desserts, sodas, starbucks, juices, and candies, and make sure to count your calories so you can track what you are eating. If you do this alone, you can and will lose weight.

To speed it up, it's best to do some exercise. At least 3 days a week, 30 minutes a day. And if you really want to get serious about it, and maximize you weight loss, do 5-6 days a week, 45-60 minutes per day.

But the diet is most important...you can exercise 4 hours a day, and if you eat more calories than you burn you will still gain weight.

As far as a personal story, I can say I just got off a 6 week diet of no carbs and lost 22 pounds in about a month of that time.

It only takes about 1 week of counting calories and dieting to get used to it, and the rest is just automatic. Don't let anything distract you, friends that want to go out and have pizza, free desserts at work, whatever, just stick to it and you can adapt to things around you. After all, after you lose all the weight, you probably won't miss eating all the crap after all.

Oh, and as far as diet pills go, they really don't do much if anything. Most studies show that diet pills contribute maybe 1% to your weight loss, with the exception of ephedra, which is very dangerous (deadly in some cases) and even then people only lost about an extra pound per month. It's a big waste of money considering the risks.

ur not fat to lose weight =)

One thing that will help you lose weight: a colon cleanse. I was one of those who did not believe in them until I tried it. And I tried a few until I found a great one that works (its all natural too! - it's just pills, but you'll detox, lose weight, and fell much, much better). You can go to
http://get-diet-thin.us and order you free trial, also you only pay $4.95 shipping and handling. Good luck!

Hi there,

I think you might be getting a little mixed up with what you want exactly. You say that you want to lose "weight" but that means you might want to get rid of some muscle too. You then say that you'd like to "shape" (I'd call it tone) your body a little which implies you want to build some muscle. I'm not trying to pick at your question - I just want to clarify the point for you.

To answer it in the best way, I am going to look at it as if you want to get rid of fat AND build muscle at the same time. If you're looking to "trim" and "tone" your body, and espectially because you suggest you are not that overweight, I would suggest you start performing more intensive aerobic exercises such as jogging. I wouldn't think you need to change the whole way you eat or go on a diet because if you're wanting to build muscles - it's better to do it all with exercise.

Exercises like jogging won't exactly "build" your muscles on your stomach but they will help reduce the extra fat around there. Depending on how fit you are, you should go on daily or bi-daily jogs of around a mile. To build muscles, you should concentrate on anaerobic exercises such as sit-ups to help build muscles.

These muscle-building exercises will give your muscles the toning and training they need to grow and become more prominent. To start to see a real difference with sit-ups, you should be looking to do no more than 100 every day (more than that will often hurt your muscles).

If you stick to doing those two forms of exercise - jogging and sit-ups, you should see real improvements in a week or two. Remember, you should do them as often as you can (I.E every single day).

Hope this helps?
