Why am i gaining?!
Question: i've recently increased my exercise level and still keeping a some-what balanced diet, and i've also increased my water intake yet i'm gaining weight, shouldnt it be the opposite?
i am 5'5''-5'6'' and 130 pounds
would 120-25 be unrealistic for my height to weight ratio?

Don't go by the scale. Muscle weighs more than fat but looks better. Your weight is fine for your height although if you prefer to be in the 120 125 range that's fine too. Remember, don't go by the scale. Go by what you look like in the mirror and how well your clothes fit.
Oh, let me add this too. You say that you increased your water intake. That's another reason your scale isn't going down. Water isn't fat but it is required to make muscle. Keep drinking it. Don't worry about an arbitrary number on a scale.
Your just adding water weight, don't worry about it.
