How many calories should I eat?!

Question: If I've put everything in correctly, my BMR is 2344(Yeah, I'm overweight). I'm currently eating at LEAST 1200 a day to avoid "starvation mode".

My questions...
1. Is 1200 enough for me or do I need to scale my calories with my BMR?

2. If I do need more...how do I do it while eating healthy foods? I'm having trouble getting even to 1200 if I stick to only the healthy food.

scale your calories with your BMR- a pound is 3500 calories, and unless you're REALLY overweight, you shouldn't be losing more than 1-2 pounds a week to be healthy, which means you should probably be eating about 1500-1600 (or higher, if you're exercising, which you should be). don't go as low as 1200- you'll be really hungry and more likely to binge on nasty foods.

there are foods that are healthy for you that aren't super-low calorie- e.g. 2 tbsp of peanut butter is usually around 200calories, which combined w/whatever you're eating it will help boost your calories. remember there are "healthy" foods other than fruits and veggies! hope this helps!

Go 2000 calories. Split it into 40% carbs, 30% protein, and 30% fat. This is the ideal split that has been tested consistently. Also, be sure to exercise as it will increase your metabolism by increasing lean muscle and efficiency of body function.

try the campbells challenge. then you will find out whats right for you because they tell you right on the label.

The general recommendation is 2000 calories of a balanced diet, but in my experience, speaking to a nutritionist is always a good idea. He/she can recommend the number of calories your body needs based on more specific information about your age, body type, health condition, etc. Good luck!

1. it depends..... A regular amount of calories a teen girl should have a day is 2,200 calories per day and it should be from low- fat foods.

2. If you are eating healthy foods and want to stay in shape stick to your eating habit but if u start to lose weight uncontrollably eat more food a day.
