Sugar Consumption (especially young people)?!

Question: Only an anxious almost recovered anorectic (me) could ask this..
How much sweer stuff do you eat in one day? Not grams, I don't want to count again, but like units... I don't know. Help!
I don't care if it's nothing or twenty five donuts, I just want to feel safe.
Note: I am only really interested in people at a healthy weight...

A TON of sugar. I have a sweet tooth. This morning I had a blueberry muffin (with like sugar sprinkles on it even), yesterday I had half a chocolate donut, chocolate covered pretzels, a small iced peppermint mocha - nonfat tho, Sno-caps, frozen yogurt in a cone. I'm at a healthy weight right now but I'm trying to cut down on the unnecessary sugar and work out to tone up. Sometimes I try to drink cinnamon tea (with 4 sugar packets and milk) to satiate my sugar cravings.. lol.

Good luck with your recovery!

Lets see...

I put 1 1/2 tea. of sugar in coffee
I have low sugar oatmeal for breakfast
Maybe a sandwich and chips for lunch
Some fruit for snack - natural sugar, but still sugar.
There's probably some in whatever I have for dinner, and I always have a small desert.

I'd say that's it. I use to snack on candy quite often, but I cut that out and have been feeling much better since I've stopped.

Oh, and I'm a healthy weight, about 120 lbs at 5'-3". I wouldn't want to be any smaller!

well i usually only eat like one junk food thing aday sometime i don't even eat any! pop is so bad for you tho! and i don't eat fast food! i usually eat protein and vegetable and low fat yogourt and fruit! and a lot of carbs can be very fattening! i am about 120 pounds and 5'6" sometimes i think that is a bit more than i need to be BUT its all muscle so theres nothing i can do about it! i excersise about 20 hours a week!

I think my sugar intake is fairly low. I'd say about 2 soft drinks and a small (65 gram) bag of sweets a day. I have a 19.2 BMI.

I'm at a fairly healthy weight. I eat quite well. I generally take a biscuit with a cup of tea in the evening almost everyday. If I'm out for a meal, I take dessert. If I feel like chocolate, I eat chocolate. I don't restrict myself, and I get on alright.

I don;t get hung up on rules and recommendations, they do more to scare people than to help them, you shouldn't monitor these things too closely, nobody should, it's not natural. Despite this, I understand your situation, and your need for a little security. All I can say, is I don't restrict myself, and I get on alright. I hope you do too, and I hope this helps.

Start eating fruit - it contains sugars which are better for you than the refined stuff in processed foods.

I only allow myself one sugary treat each day and you get used to it. I don't have sugar in drinks or on cereal. I like to eat fruit.

The more sugar you eat the more your body will crave it, so it's best to get it under control if you can. You're also at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes if you overdo it with the sugary foods.

Allow yourself one treat each day and eat the fruit at all other times - that's what I estimate. I'm neither fat nor thin, but I'm trying to lose some weight after having my last baby. I also like the healthier lifestyle choices and feel better since I started following them.
