Sit or stand?!


Question: I have a desk job and have been dieting. I don't get much exercise with my schedule, but was wondering if there is any benefit to standing instead of sitting all day. Some of my work can be done sitting or standing was curious if it would help to stand instead of sitting all the time. I sit at work all day, and then I drive 45 minutes each way to work and home, and two nights a week I have three hour night classes, so I sit a ton.

Regardless of whether it does or doesn't help your diet, you need to change your position every an hour or so, so that your body doesn't get stiff.
Stand, or walk (stretch your muscles) for 4-5 minutes and try to breath fresh air every 1 or 2 hours

It's not gonna make you lose weight if you stand sorry.

it would help. pace around too if u can. and cut ALL bad foods (sweets soda chips fried foods etc...)

You Probably won't lose weight, but if you pace around or exercise muscles, like jumping up and down, then maybe you would.

For my line of work i stand all the time. I have found that by standing all the time that i get very tired and lethargic. I try to alternate standing and sitting as much as possible. It seems when i am able to even it out that I am not near as tired at the end of the day. So i would say do both, Not just limit yourself to one or the other

standing will just make you lose your body when you get tired at sitting down but it will not help you lose weight. to lose weight you ahve to perspire. if you will do exercise atleast 30 mins per day that would help you lose weight

If you can split standing and sitting, it is heaps better 4 you.. also while you are sitting, you can do butt & tummy excercises (look it up "google").. try sitting up-right/back straight, move you neck around from time to time... look up some excercises you could do with you legs...While standing PS, when i say excercises. i mean real mild stuff like: doing circles with your ankels, bending a forward with legs straight (feeling back of leg muscles stretch) cos all you want to do, is get some more circulation happining, without attracting attention 2 yourself,,,, instead of just sitting there... hope that helps a bit :)
