Anorexia/Bulimia: Is my Metabolism shot after 10 weeks?!

Question: I became Anorexic/Bulimic in the beginning of November. I weighed 121 and today I weigh about 108.

I have been aiming for 100lbs but I am noticing that I am becoming more depressed as I loose weight the wrong way. I want to go back to eating normally and healthily and loose the rest of the weight through exercise. But I'm afraid that I'll start gaining instead of losing.

Do you think my metabolism is really that much slower after only 3 months? That and the fact that 15 pounds in 10-11 weeks is fairly gradual. Also through my restricting there were many many times that I binged on fast food and I know I didn't get it all out, and I didn't gain... so that's a good sign that I'm not screwed yet, right?

Please give me your knowledge/advice/experiences on the subject. I want to be happy, healthy but still maintain this weight!

You can still make things right with your body, you didn't mess things up too much yet! I was bulimic for 4 years, and during my recovery battled anorexia (now been recovered for 3 1/2 years-woohoo!!!). What you need to do is start focusing on "being healthy" so everything you eat, you are eating it to be healthy, every exercise you do, your doing it to be healthy. That is the only way I was able to recover-Convincing myself that I was getting healthy. What you should do, is eat 5-6 small meals a day-this helps increase your metabolism and causes it to burn fat faster and longer. And, start doing 30 minutes of cardio 4x a week, gradually add more days, and longer time (to 40 minutes, then 45 etc) as it gets easier and easier is when you'd want to add more to it.
Eat healthy foods for each meal and snack. Make sure you eat NO LESS than 1200 calories per day, eating less will mess your metabolism up really bad! Eat good foods like grilled chicken, turkey breast, turkey burgers, whole wheat breads and tortilla's, brown rice, vegitables, fruit, raw nuts, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds, etc. For some snack idea's that are a little different; sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, yogurt, chopped apple with cheese... lots of things you can do!

PS When recovering from an eating disorder, you may gain a little weight before losing, but stick with it, and give it a little time and you will start losing, your body just needs to get itself back on track. Don't be discouraged!!! your getting healthy-that's so exciting!

Your metabolitism is what we call in starvation mode. You were better off doing nothing because now when you start eating again you'll 99.9% gain more weight than you even started with. Not to mention your metabolitism is working at snail's pace.

There is no way for you to maintain this weight. Anorexia and bulmia were not made to maintain just made to lose until YOU DIE.
