How do I know I have achieve my maximum in lifting free weights?!

Question: I am currently lifting 10lbs free weight for my biceps and triceps and overhead press. Should I continue to increase the weights and when should I just maintain lifting a certain weight and not go any further with increasing the weights? Thanks

When lifting the weight becomes easy for you. I would recommend increasing your weight load when you can easily do 20 reps. It is largely up to you what goals you want to achieve too. If you are looking for toning..just increase reps until you can do 15-20 with a little difficulty. This is generally a good range for toning. Try 12 lbs and see how it feels. For muscle growth usually 8-12 rep range is good.

i think you have to increase your weights like me. i developed harder and toned biceps. and do it constantly to keep those biceps and triceps in shape. i also advice you to do twenty push-ups to develop your triceps, abdominal muscles, and back. it really helps, I've tried it!

You could do what they call "negatives" to help build strenghth.

To get up to a 300 lb bench with free weights, I would put that much weight on the bar. A partner would spot. (ALWAYS HAVE A SPOTTER). He help me lift it off the bar. I would slowly allow the weight to lower to my chest and he would help me bring it back up. Doing this allows allows your muscles to develop a tolerance.

Increase 10 lbs with a spotter. When you reach it on your own, add 10lbs more.

Good Luck!
