How can you live so close to the keeper of your family history, and not see her for 6 years???
If she is walking to the store, it's probably because she wants the exercise or doesn't have a car.
If she lives that close to you, don't think about her weight, get out there and carry her groceries home for her and find out who she is.

http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/magazine/int... check out this linke tyo see if she is overweight or not.

Best advise, take her to the market. Walk WITH her.

There could be a medical reason for the weight gain. I would suggest going to the Dr. with her.

Other than that, is she has been less active and eating more, she may have gained weight that way.

I would encourage her to keep up the walking.

According to the link the ;ast person gave she is not overweight.

For some this is normal.
i suggest that you walk to the market with her daily.
i promise you will not regret it.
She needs to stay active.

77 years old. 176 lbs. I would say she is over weight. She can't walk to the market probably because she is having hip or knee problems. Ask her and lend support.

I don't think being overweight is a valid reason to not walk to the market. Encourage her to walk anyway. Maybe you can talk to someone else who lives in the same town to go with her. If your grandmother becomes sedentary, she will probably gain more weight. Encourage her to go out even if she must use a walker.
