For the most part you should only do bench press once or twice a week tops. All muscles and joints require recovery time and 48 hours in my opinion is not enough, especially if you are doing heavy weight. I would suggest taking a week off from doing it and see if it helps. Sometimes my joints pop and crack a little, but I think its just because I am getting older. Make sure to always stretch really good BEFORE and AFTER your workout. Also taking a good calcium supplement, if you are not getting enough in your diet, might be a good idea.

LOL this question was here yesterday I REMEMBER IT..lol sorry i don't know why but i can't belive you still haven't gotten the answer you were looking for

your benching to much.muscle olny grows at rest. only do it once maybe twice a week. and change things up. do incline, decline, butterflys, dumbbell press.dont just do bench presses mix it up.

This is very common for beginner weight lifters. When you are new to benching, it's very important to get the form and the mechanics before you add weights. Make sure you get a spotter when you bench, it's very important. Get someone who has been benching for a while to look at your form and ask them to see if you need to correct anything.

For now you should stop weight lifting using weights. Instead, you should do stretching 5 to 10 minutes a day, everyday for one week and see if it helps.

The popping and the cracking might mean that you do did not warm up before your workout. Warm ups are crucial because it stands as a prevention to injuries. And Cool downs too.

Make sure you workout your deltoids(shoulders) and back.

Major muscle groups; back, quadriceps, chest, shoulders can be worked 3 times a week.

Minor should be kept at 2 times a week.

Do major before minor ones.
