Kick-starting my metabolism in the morning (walking or eating first?)?!

Question: Hello,
I'm on a diet, trying to loose weight. I've searched questions on 'How to loose weight?' here before and people say one of two things:
1. Exercise as soon as you wake up to 'kick-start' your metabolism
or
2. Eat breakfast as soon as you wake up to 'kick-start' your metabolism

On weekends I can do both. My breakfast is kashi cereal with skim milk plus a vitamin. I walk for 30 minutes (I'd say 1/3 of it is up-hill) with my dog after. Should I be walking first, and then eat breakfast, or should I stick with eating breakfast first to kick-start my metabolism? Does it really matter?

Either or. They both do the same thing. I would walk first, then eat breakfast. 2 reasons: Exercise will curb your appetite so when you eat you don't eat as much breakfast. And also it's not very comfortable exercising after eating, I don't think.

I prefer to eat breakfast in the morning and then exercise at night. That way breakfast raises my metabolism for the day and then exercise ensures that my metabolism stays high as I sleep.

Good luck and good job working on your health!

I would recommend exercise first.

Do a stretch/warmup each morning when first getting out of bed.
Then eat breakfast.
Don't exercise (jogging, aerobics, cardio) until either mid-morning or mid-afternoon.

Walking you can do first thing, that's low impact, so doesn't matter when you do that.
You will need to add something to the routine that gets the blood pumping though.

yep, like the other guy said. excercise first then eat.

Yes, it does matter. Eating breakfast first will make you have some energy. Then after the walk you burn it off, instead of eating after because then you dont burn it off.
