Have you ever gone to the gym and saw someone working out improperly?!

Question: So yesterday I was at the gym and saw four people working out very wrong.
1- A girl doing shoulder presses with too much weight that she had to jerk her body into lifting them.

2- Doing lat pulldowns, the person was falling back while pulling almost like doing a wide lat row.

3rd person was moving too much when doing their rows

4th person only works out their abs, never the legs, back or chest.

Have you ever been tempted to them that, they are not working anything and are increasing their risk of injuries.

Especially when the first 3 are exagerating weight without proper form and technique.

I have seen that and I have said something. Only when it looks like they could really injure themselves, though. I've even told trainers to go and talk to people. hehehe People don't understand that you can bulge discs and tear tendons and muscles by doing exercises improperly.

All the time. I think many people don't know how to do it properly but, don't want to pay for a trainer.

take it easy man... let them do what they want to do even know they might be idiots :)

Actually, no: I've never felt like that. When I go to the gym 4-5 times a week, I'm more concerned about what I'm doing with MYSELF, not what anybody or EVERYBODY else is doing. If they hurt themselves, then they have a lesson learned: either they weren't following the directions on the machine, or they need a personal trainer.

I have seen it many times.

Have you ever been to the gym and had some trainer wannabe try to correct you? And the funny thing is - they are out of shape!!!

Yes, all of the time, but everyone has their way of doing things. Some people may appreciate the help if you try to help them, but others will say you're full of it and tell you that they know what their doing. So...basically just let them do what they think works for them and do your own thing.

I am not kidding you I see this almost everyday in the gym. What kills me is why don't they ask someone for assistance or read how to do the exercise on the side of the machine. I always want to tell someone they are doing it wrong, but I usually just keep my mouth shut.

Yeah, but you could get sued if you give them advice and they hurt themselves. Even trainers that work at the gym don't always fix other people's mistakes if they haven't been hired by them. The perils of a litigious society.

Everytime I go to the gym I see people lifting improperly. People doing bench with too much weight, or not going down to their chest. O and I love when I see this, someone will have way to much weight on and have their spotter do all the work. I also love when I see people putting a lot of weight on squart, but barely go down. I am actually going to try and apply for a personal trainer job at my gym once the new year starts.

If you know help them.
Thats the solution

Yes I have been tempted. Have I actually said something? No.

Reason being, unless you look like a greek god, I figure I don't have any business telling someone else how to work out. Even if I think it would help them.

But I am there with you, there are TONS of people doing things that don't make any sense sometimes.

I know what you mean, and I have been tempted to point our their mistakes to them, too.
But it's probably best NOT a good idea to do so.
It's not your place, and there is a pretty good chance they will feel offended. Especially because you'll be doing it in "public".

I know the urge is great. But try to ignore it!

When I go into the gym 5 days a week I see people doing it wrong. They just don't know what they're doing. Some one who knows how t odo it properly taught me.
