I am not going to read through the posts because I know that you will get a lot of negatvivity. I have been om Atkins for over 5 years and my doctor encourages me to continue because of my exemplary health. I feel that if a diet can't be done for life, it shouldn't be done at all. You need to get the book. I also recommend that you get the book Protein Power by Doctors Michael and mary Dan Eades. They also have a very good blog that I will share with you in my post. Remember to use your imagination and learn to cook. Here are some healthy recipes that your mom should be happy to make for her growing child.

The carb count for the induction phase 20 grams a day but that is for a minimum of 2 weeks. If you want to begin increasing your carbs at this time that would be fine. Here is another link:

Just don't do this without the same knowledge that I had when I began it and keep it up. Don't resort to your old eating ways because that is what caused the problem in the first place.

I would not recommend Atkins for someone your age. You need the carbs as you are still growing. Instead, I would tell you to limit yourself to around 1400-1600 calories per day. Minimize your fat intake. Stay away from sodas and fruit juice. Try to eat lots of fruit and veggies, lean protein (white meat turkey and chicken), and whole grains. Avoid sweets and greasy food as much as possible.

Also, you need to exercise and develop that habit. Try to walk, jog, dance, etc for at least 30 minutes 5 times a week. You may want to see if your parents will enroll you in a self defense class. It's a great way to lose weight and build self esteem.
