I don't understand my eating disorder?!
Question: I don't understand my eating disorder?
Why do I do this and how do I stop?
Answers:
I would say that if you're unhappy with your body's appearance, why not consider a healthy way and natural way to obtain it? For example:
- how often do you exercise? At 17, I would say you should be having light to medium exercise for 3 hours a week
- what kind of food do you eat? Our bodies weren't meant to be fed junk food. Look into checking out some healthy cook books from your library
- what kind of messages do you listen to? - the idea that you're too big didn't just start in your mind. Somehow it was communicated to you that if you don't look a certain way, that's bad, and you aren't as valuable as you could be. Therefore, I would be very careful about sources that promote this kind of thinking as it is destructive.
- can you see a school psychologist? You may even be able to ask if the meeting can be confidential or not. I would seek a counselor of your own sex.
Hang in there, take one day at a time, and give yourself permission to change the way you think.
Best regards
Just accept who yo uare dont change for anyone ! go listen to some lady gaga born this way, that'll sort ya out :) peace x
I'm really sorry you feel this way. It's not your fault and there's nothing you're doing wrong - it's just something that can happen to anybody. Some people say "you're just doing it for attention" or "it's because you think you're fat" - not so. Even if somebody is perfectly happy with their weight, they can get a disorder. It's not something you can talk yourself out of, and left long enough, it can be life threatening. Your life is in long-term danger, so go see a doctor. Even if your family doesn't want you to - you could call 911, 999 or whatever your national emergency hotline is!
