The right amount of ear wax is good for you. It protects our eardrums by repelling moisture; works as a barrier against infection and traps insects before they can reach the inner ear. Of course, too much ear wax can cause problems.
A buildup of ear wax (especially on the ear drum) has been linked to tinnitus. The good news is that, most patients report complete recovery once the excess wax is removed.
So be sure to have a doctor clear out your ear canal to avoid damage.
In rare cases patients reported tinnitus symptoms following ear wax removal. However, there is no scientific evidence to support these claims. Most doctors feel that patients were already experiencing some degree of tinnitus before the wax removal and only became aware of it once the cloudiness in their hearing was clearing by the cleaning.
