buying a stethoscope?!
Question: Buying a stethoscope?
Answers:
The Littman Cardiology III is one of the best for prehospital care. They can run from $100-$150. Any of the Puretone DRG (Doctors Research Group) stethoscopes are awesome for EMS. They're a little tricky to get used to, but you can hear perfect lung sounds through layers of clothing. Those can also run from $100 to over $150. If you're looking for a cheaper option for the moment, or you wanna see how you like Littmann's, I would suggest the Littmann Classic II S.E. I used that for several years before becoming a medic. It's great for BPs and lung sounds in an ambulance, and the price is about half of the Cardiology III or the DRGs. Here are some links for each of the stethoscopes I just described. Please don't feel like you have to buy one from these places! But if you were curious, I got both of my Littmann's from allheart.com (it was the cheapest both times I was buying), but I got my DRG from my boyfriend when he got a new one, and he got that at a local store. They ordered it for him. I typically use my Cardiology III, but I always keep my DRG in my car in case I don't have my III with me. I rarely use my SE anymore.

People have a nasty habit of borrowing them and you never see it again so guard it with your life:-)

I have a Littmann Cardiology III stethoscope. It is great! I love it, I can hear sounds with great details. Littmann stethoscopes are of great quality. Maybe you could go to a medical store and look at different styles, it might be better than looking online.
Good luck in school! :)
Most of my colleagues and I all use the Littmann Classic II SE. The cardiology model is nice, but it is a pretty big hit in the pocketbook for what we're using them for (BP and Chest Ausc).
