How does a doctor test for mono? is it a blood test and how long does it take to!
Question: How does a doctor test for mono? is it a blood test and how long does it take to get results?
Answers:
Two ways: there is a rapid test where you can do a finger stick & test in the clinic and it takes about 2 minutes. A more elaborate test is done in the lab from a regular blood draw and should take a few days to get results. Mono is a viral disease caused by the EBV or epstein barr virus. Much of the population have had it at some point. The symptoms range from almost zero, o extreme fatigue, sore throat, and swollen glands & spleen (the most important finding). they should explain to her the precautions she needs to take with regards to her spleen. people recover usually in a few weeks to about 3 months. It is viral, no antibiotics.
