Paul Ehrlich wrote that only alkaline disinfectants would be effective against Mycobacterium? why?

How did he reach this conclusion with out testing the disinfectants?


Answers:

Mycobacteria are "acid fast" bacilli.

This means they have a cell wall that is relatively resistant to acidic chemical agents.
