Hep C is not sexually transmitted, it is blood that passes it.?!

Question:

Hep C is not sexually transmitted, it is blood that passes it.?

I have not known any one with hep C who has passed it to their partner because of unprotected sex. It is caught because of using needles or the old blood transfusionthats how u get it, can any one out there say they have caught hep C because of unprotected sex, i dont think so, oh naughty ex drug users never allowed to have unprotected sex again. Oh sorry partner I was a silly teenager so we will have to use condomes for ever, yeah right.

Answers:

Hepatitis C in only transmitted via blood to blood contact. However, if someone is co-infected (such as HIV & HCV) the risk of sexual transmission rises significantly. Studies show that in monogamous stable relationships there is a 1-3% chance of sexual transmission. Hepatitis C can be spread through sharing toothbrushes and razors, because the virus can live outside the human body for up to 7 days. If someone with hep c knicks themselves shaving or has bleeding gums and the toothbrush or razor is shared, and the other person also knicks themselves or has bleeding gums, then transmission is possible. Many people don't know they have hep c because the symptoms are so subtle and often don't progress to more serious symptoms until advanced liver damage has occurred, so always take precautions when exposed to blood and never share personal hygiene products. Best wishes to you.
