An uncomfortable question related to hemorroids...serious and nonsarcastic answe!
Question:
An uncomfortable question related to hemorroids...serious and nonsarcastic answers please.?
Every time I have a bowel movement, a cluster of bumpy shaped things come out from in my anus that look like hemorroids. Typically, I have to push them back in (I know, its gross). I also get some occassional and minor bleeding from the bowel movements. This has been going on for quite a while. Are these just internal hemorroids, or might it be something else. Should I seek help? What treatments might bring down the swelling?
This really is an uncomfortable question to ask, so I appreciate only kind and informative answers. Thank you.
Answers:
This can definetely be very stressful. Based on your history, it sounds like you are a surgical candidate because you have grade III hemorrhoids.
-Grade 1- do not prolapse,
-Grade 2- prolapse but spontaneously return to their position, -Grade 3- prolapse but manually have to be restored like you do,
-Grade 4- prolapse and cannot be restored.
Surgery is an option for grade 3 and 4 as conservative management (high fiber diet, topical ointments) usually is not enough. You will eventually need to see a General surgeon or a GI specialist for surgery consultation and options, bu just go to your primary care doc and he'll refer you appropriately.
