Answers:
It helps if you are a 501c3 recognized charity, then they can deduct any donations from their taxes when you give them a receipt. But even if you aren't associated with a 501c3, you can still make up a flyer with information about the fundraiser, such as the date, time, place, reason for the fundraiser, and a contact person & phone number. Do this enough in advance so you can get an adequate number of donations. You can also do a 50/50 (fifty fifty) drawing. You don't need anything but a roll of tickets (the kind with two parts to the ticket so you can keep one half and give the other half to the buyer). Sell the tickets for $1.00 a piece or 7 for $5.00. Then, at a specified time during your benefit, draw the winning ticket. The winner keeps half (50%) of the cash and the other 50% goes to the cause. Often, at benefits such as yours, the winner will donate their half back to the cause. Best wishes.
