Can you get pityriasis rosea more than once? Note: NOT ROSACEA! That is a differ!

Question:

Can you get pityriasis rosea more than once? Note: NOT ROSACEA! That is a different thing.?

My daughter got this thing that I thought was chicken pox back in november. When I took her to the pediatrician, she told me it was pityriasis rosea, and since it was caused by a virus, there was nothing that could be done for it. 3-4 weeks later, it was gone, but shortly after, I developed it myself, and had it about 6 weeks. It went away completely, but then about 5 weeks ago I noticed a little spot that looked familiar to me on my chest. within a couplle of weeks i had the spots again only this time it was confined to my chest area especially under the breasts. Well, being a total hypochondriac this has really made me freak out because i have heard on one hand that you can get it many times, but it seems that the medical websites say you get it once and thats it...Anybody know? by the way the spots are pretty much fading now.

Answers:

The answer is yes. It is an infection to which most people develop resistance with one exposure. However, on rare occasions people do not develop complete resistance and can have recurrences.
