Does she have an eating disorder?!

Question: Does she have an eating disorder!?
My friend's daughter is twelve years old and all her friends and family think she has an eating disorder!. On a weekday she doesn't eat anything until lunch at 12:25pm and then she only eats a small plum and has a few sips of water!. At roughly 3:15pm she eats a bun on the way home from school and from that point onwards she eats everything in sight!. She has a high stress level due to school, home and low self esteem!. She was also badly bullied in primary school (5yrs to 11yrs) and gets teased a bit in high school too!. Please give your opinion on this but remember she is only a child so please don't be hurtful!. I will be very grateful to everyone that answers!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I do not think she has an eating disorder!. I do feel for her for what happened to her in the past but i honestly dont think it has anything to do with her eating habits!. some people just dont get hungry untill about three in the afternnooon!. its quite common honestly!. breakfast is quite an important meal so i would suggest someone talking to her and finding out what foods she likes and have those available for her in the mornings!. maybe the stress is getting to her!. you know how some people eat out of anger or frustration or depression!? lots of people lose their appetite as well ( im one of them ) !. i think she is probably most stressed in the mornings and at school ( hence why she hardly eats ) so thats why in the afternoon she eats whatever she can get her hands on!.!.!.!. someone should just have a talk with her to find out the answer!.!.!. someone like you!. its easier to talk to someone thats not family!.!.!.!. just be open to whatever she says!. im glad somebody cares for her the way you do sweetie

Even though she's only 12, she could be developing an eating disorder!. (My Mother's developed at the age of 5!.)

Does anyone else in the family have one!? Believe it or not, these usually are hereditary!. I would urge your friend to take her to a specialist!. If it is an eating disorder the earlier it is addressed, the better her chances are to live a normal healthy life!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Everyone used to think I had an eating disorder up until now!. I'm not 18 years old and am suffering from multiple mental illnesses!. Sometimes it might not be an eating disorder but a mental one!. I've suffered from anxiety all my life and doctors just caught it now, and I did the same things that you described right there!. Seek a doctor a!.s!.a!.p and don't let this go unnoticed!. She may not like the school food, or if she is overweight maybe she is conscience about people watching her eat therefore she may not eat at school for sake of being taunted!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is a hard question to answer, an eating disorder comes with a lot more than just eating habits!. I think that your friend should really have her daughter evaluated!. If I have learned anything in working with children with this situation is that early intervention means everything!. I don't know what state you live in, but I have some great doctors in New Jersey that I know would be wonderful at evaluating her!. It may be nothing, but better safe than sorry!. At the age of twelve, she is very fragile and her body is still growing and developing, if she doesn't get the right professional help now, she could do damage that is hard to undue!. From what you explained she starves as much as she can and then binges, but she could also be going through typical teenage "weirdness"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
