Question: Anyone know anything about cervical cancer!?
My doctor just called me and informed me i might have cervical cancer!. is there anyone out there that can tell me about it!?!?!? i've looked it up online and technical terms aren't helping me at all!.!.!.

First don't get freaked out - if they told you your pap smear was abnormal, they will ask you to come in for a colposcopy - it's like a biopsy!. 9 out of 10 times these come back negative!.
But here is some info:
I'm sure you know what a cervix is!? Ok, so basically the cancer starts in the cervix the same way it starts anywhere - there are some cells that grow misformed - and they help other new cells grow the same way!. Soon it has spread and infected the whole area!.
Generally if it is caught early through pap smears and HPV testing!.
The idea here is to catch it before it spreads to your uterus, or, worse, further - like the bladder, etc!.
Usually the treatments for the lowest, least spread kind of cancer involve either a cone biopsy to remove the cancer if it's small enough (leaving hope for future fertility if the patient wants) If the patient isn't interested in having kids in the future (is older and already had their kids, etc!.), they will do a hysterectomy and also remove lymph nodes that are near he area!.
After that they generally do a radiation or chemotherapy treatment to get the little cells they miss!.
If the cancer has gone past the first stage (stage 1a or 1a2), other options may have to be looked at as far as surgery or treatments!.

I am no doctor but i think cervical cancer is where the cervix has been stretched or damaged!. Early signs are bleeding through sex/ pain during sex/bleeding during periods!. I am not sure what signs happen when it progresses!. I hear that there is a vaccine against it which is great news though! You should speak more to you doctor about it though! Www@Answer-Health@Com
