Has anyone ever had cervical cancer that was treated with a cone biposy then ret!

Question:

Has anyone ever had cervical cancer that was treated with a cone biposy then returned at a later time?

If so, what was the treatment for the recurrence? Thanks.

Answers:

Yes, cancer can return after a cone biopsy (some are done with the LEEP procedure). If you have a recurrance of cancer, a hysterectomy may be the best course of treatment. Cervical cancer can spread, so chemotherapy and radiation may be needed as well. If you have had a cone biopsy and your next Pap was normal, you shouldn't worry too much. Just continue to have regular Pap smears. If you have had a cone biopsy and abnormal Pap smears after, definitely consider a hysterectomy. My wife had one at 27 and she just turned 50. She has had to have some HRT, but she is fine and hasn't had many problems. Good luck and hope this helps a little.
