Birthmarks???

my whole life i've had ALOT of birthmarks. my doctor has seen it and just said it's weird. now i'm noticing alot of them on my baby. no one i ask knows what it is. does anyone out there have any idea whats up?

Answers:

There are two main categories of birthmarks. Red birthmarks are made up of blood vessels close to the skin surface, and are called vascular birthmarks. Pigmented birthmarks are areas in which the color of the birthmark is different from the color of the rest of the skin.
Cafe-au-lait spots are a light tan spot, the color of coffee with milk. They may be a normal type of birthmark. The presence of several cafe-au-lait spots larger than a quarter may occur in neurofibromatosis (a genetic disorder that causes abnormal cell growth of nerve tissues).
Please see the web pages for more details on Birthmarks - pigmented and Birthmarks - red.
