Question: My grandad has pneumonia!?
hes in hospital ,hes 80 year old and a smoker he lost the power of his legs when he collapsed because of it but hes in hospital now and hes being kept in for a week so far do you think he will pull through and be back to normalWww@Answer-Health@Com

I have had pneumonia twice!. I also have COPD which is a chronic lung disease that involves bronchitis and emphysema!. How a person responds to pneumonia is on an individual basis so no one can say for sure how things will turn out!. Just see how he responds to the treatment!.
Go visit him as much as you can!. Having family and friends around will make him very happy!. Believe it or not, a person's mental state is a great indicator of whether they get well or not!. I have worked in many nursing homes and have witnessed that people who are depressed or neglected by family are always the most ill and are usually the first to go!.
I certainly hope he gets better!. I will keep your family in my prayers!. My grandmother just had her 2nd set of bypass surgery in 3 years and she pulled through!. Don't let em fool ya!. Elderly people can be pretty strong!. As the saying goes: "Gettin old ain't for sissies!!"Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know what will happen in your grandpa's case (his MD would be the person to ask), but I wish you and your family all the best!. My own grandpa quit smoking at 65 and lived 'til 93; It's never too late to quit!.

Pneumonia can be fatal!. I was only 29 when i had it last year and almost died!. It's impossible to say whether he'll pull through as every individual case is different!. Speak to his Doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Hope your grandpa gets better and make sure the hospital look after him!. Tell him to give up smoking even though I expect he has smoked all his life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
