Question: What causes a sinus infection!?
I think I have one and I'm going to the doctor tomorrow!. I am curious about what causes these!.[[Sorry if this is the wrong catagory!. I'm just not sure what one it goes in!.]]Www@Answer-Health@Com

Infection of sinuses is called sinusitis--acute or chronic based on the time span!.
Sinusitis may be caused by anything that interfere with airflow into the sinuses and mucous drainage out of the sinuses, usually follow a viral infection,allergy,or irritants , when long standing it may turn to bacteril infection!.!.
Signs and symptoms of sinusitis depend on which sinus is involved--usually present with--
-nasal congestion and discharge or post nasal drip
-headache, or facial pain, or pain under or around the eyes
-fever

I can't ell you exactly what causes one, but I can tell you that theyare bacterial and respond well to antiobitics!. If you're having alot of allergies and drainage this can lead to an infection!.
I do know a great preventive measure for people who get sinus infections often, and that is to use a natural saline rinse once day!.
A little bit of sea salt mixed with distilled water and then warmed is best!. Just hold one nostril closed and sniff the solution into the other nostril!. This cleanses the nasal passages that lead to the sinus cavities!. Use sea salt rather than table salt and distilled water rather than tap as it doesn't contain irritants like chlorine!. They also sell little sniffing pots designed specifically for cleansing the sinuses!. I forget the name, but you can find them at health food stores!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

My husband uses this to keep from getting bronchitis, and I use to to cure sinus infections!. THere are many kinds of bacteria that live in the sinuses, and this gets rid of all the bad ones!!.This is the only thing that really helped me --- my Dr!. told me about a sinus wash that will kill bacteria!.

in a glass mix 1/4 cup water with a pinch of salt and heat to body temperature!.
add 5 drops each silver and chlorophyll and mix!.
using a large dropper (like one used for infant medication) drop 2 full droppersfull into one side of the nose while laying down!.
Turn the head and let it drain out the other nostril!. Be sure to have paper towels handy!.
The silver kills the bacteria and there are several hundred kind that can live in the sinus cavities and anti biotics don't get rid of them all!.
Do this twice a day for a week, mixing up the mixture fresh each time!.
Then do it once a week for maintenance!.
There is nothing in this that will hurt you, and it cured me!.

I am not sure what causes them!. I had one last year and it was just awful!. The doctor ended up having to put some kind of scope on a tube down my nose to see if there were any cancerous growths or anything (none)!. My nose hurt so bad on one side because of the infection, it was just terrible!. He put me on some antibiotics and I get better really quick after that!. Good Luck!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
