As far as imaging equipment goes - CT will probably give you the largest dose of radiation!.

Depending upon what they are looking for, you may have a contrast medium injected as well!.

The CT will give multiple 'slices' of your head using an XRay tube that rotates around you!.

If you are REALLY worried - make sure that the CT scanner itself is serviced by the manufacturer and not a 3rd party service group!. The 3rd party groups do NOT do as good a job of calibrating the machines as the manufacturer!. And when radiation is involved - I want to know WHO is taking care of the machine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A CT Scan is a very quick and simple proceedure, nothing to worry about!. You doctor may order this scan with or without contrast!. If it is with contrast then you will have an IV inserted into your arm where the medication (contrast agent) will go!. You will lay down on a thin table which will move in and out of a donut-looking machine!. The whole thing takes a few minutes and you will have no lasting effects!. Your doctor is looking to see if there is a tumor, brain abnormality or anything else that may be causing you pain!. He will also study the skull and surrounding membranes!. Worry!.!.!.why bother!? There is nothing you can do until after the test and the test is nothing to worry about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You may have to get a shot of "contrast" injected into your arm, containing a neutral substance called barium - !?!?!? (usually barium sulfate) which passes through your veins to show bloodflow better - it's totally harmless but make sure you request a "sample dose" in advance to see if you're allergic, cuz it makes some people puke!.

The needle is not the scary kind, it's like the one you donate blood into!.

You may feel a warmness during your CT, this is the heat coming off of the machinery, not your brain cooking!. The radiation is comparable to working outside in the sun for a couple weeks, not dangerous compared to what it could save you from!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When I had one, I just laid on the hospital bed!. They rolled me where my head was in this big circle, it was open and very tall, but very thin, you can see both sides and the ceiling when your head is in it (the huge enclosed machines are actually MRI machines, not CT's)!. You are not enclosed or trapped at all!. You have to lie very very still for about 10 minutes!. Then they pull your bed out and you go back to your room!.

They can see the structure of your brain, so they may check for congenital abnormalities, any problem with brain's shape or form, possible bleeding in the brain, blood clots, or tumors!.

That's it, a CT scan is the easiest most pain free thing a hospital can do to you in my opinion!. :)

No worries!!! I've had 5 of them and it's painless!. You just lie still when they tell you to (for about 10 seconds) If you need contrast dye, you'll have a very small IV, but the person doing it is very good at it and it's only in there long enough to put the dye in!. The first time they did it to me, it tasted like I was sucking on a penny!. Just make sure you urinate before the test because sometimes it might feel like you have to pee!. The dye made me feel warm, but it was a comfortable warmness!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

hopefully you are not claustraphobic!.
Just relax and lay still when you are in the machine!.
You will probably want to eat very lightly b/c it does not affect the scan!. They may use contrast IV agent which will involve an injection in the hand or arm wherever they inject you!. That will cause you to experience a flushed feeling but nothing else!. Just relax and rest!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its a big machine shaped like a donut!. You lie down on a table that moves back and forth and they take pictures of the inside of your brain!. It only takes a few minutes on the new machines!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, you shouldn't be worried!. I think my Dad had a TC scan on his brain too!. He said you just lie as still as possible so they can get a clear image or something!. Don't move, otherwise it'll be fuzzy!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

No cancer no nothing dont worry every little thing is gonna be alright!. LOL!.GOOD LUCkWww@Answer-Health@Com

They may give you an IV first!.!.!.and then you lie there for like, 4 minutes and it's done!.!.!.piece of cakeWww@Answer-Health@Com

you just lie very stillWww@Answer-Health@Com
